Residents of the Town of Bedford are also residents of Bedford County, a 769 square mile county that ranks as one of the largest in the Commonwealth by land mass. As part of a sub-region of Region 2, Bedford County is a member of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance (a product of a 2016 merger between the Region 2000 alliance and the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce). Through our partnership with the Bedford County Office of Economic Development, your business will have access to the connections and assistance that LRBA provides.

Regional Strategy

The Central Virginia Planning District Commission takes a broader look at the area and develops plans for regional growth. The CVPDC assists with grant writing, planning and strategy, and serves as a partner in planning and development. The CVPDC also drafts and implements the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.

GO Virginia Region 2

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development defines Region 2 as the region comprised of the cities of Covington, Lynchburg, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem; and the counties of Alleghany, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, and Roanoke.
